REEN® DRIVE and the RSGT Concept, the reincarnation of a classic – the Porsche 964 RS, fused with an engine icon, the last Mezger engine and heart of the Porsche 997 GT3 RS, and re-engineered with the driving mode select system of a modern supercar to celebrate driving.

 

REEN® DRIVE (patented) sets out to revolutionize the experience of driving a classic sports car and to maximize driving pleasure on your way to and on your dream road.

 

Based on a Porsche 964 we restored, reimagined and reengineered a customizable dream car with the heart of an icon, the charm of a classic, the thrill of a supercar and the flexibility of 2 cars into one.

REEN® DRIVE controls the core emotions of driving: Power, sound and driver aids and lets the driver choose between Race Car or Grand-Tourer. A click on the steering wheel sets a razor sharp throttle response at the track, Rev-match for extra emotions on twisty roads, traction control as a safety net in wet conditions, or a muted soundtrack on the school run. Whenever you are in the mood for change between RACE CAR or Grand Tourer, the RSGT.

I was born into a family of petrolheads and designers of the automotive press landscape with a love of sports cars. I found my love for Porsche early on in the clear design language and technical modularity. In early restorations, I focused on individual technical detail solutions, aesthetics and performance enhancement with a highlight in 2015 in “Loud and Fast Art” – a lightweight study of a Porsche 911 ST tribute. My technical approach matured over a decade through the development of computer-aided operation devices and connection to the Hyperloop team at the Technical University of Munich. In the heart of automotive development and Porsche culture Munich, I formed a team of talented engineers and the most experienced Porsche mechanics to combine old and new. With the latest process technology and programming, we gave the RSGT as a classic sports car the flexibility between “Loud and fast Art” and everyday performance, patented as the REEN® DRIVE system. An independent system that, analogous to the modern sports car, shapes the character of the car according to the driver’s ideas and needs, starting with the electro-hydraulic power steering, the characteristics of the engine’s power development, to a finely adjustable traction control, shift support through automated gear blip and volume control of the sports exhaust system through dual E-flaps, that are controlled through car speed, throttle position and volume control knob. Each of the character traits can be shaped separately, based on the idea of an analogue amplifier.

 

Once you start slipping on the Porsche slippery slope, you fall in love with every detail, and so did I. The RSGT is the story of a creative, grueling, fantastic and goal-focused restoration and development in cooperation with the big names in the automotive supply industry, who have not always taken us completely serious but certainly supported us with unique solutions.

 

The RSGT is a homage to the Porsche 964 RS, 50 years of Porsche RS history and to Hans Mezger with his revolutionary engine design, which had its beginnings in the early 911, shaped the character of the 964 and found its final stage of development in the 997 GT3 engine. In conjunction with REEN DRIVE, the last Mezger engine is the key to flexibility, unique in its characteristics and expressed in a classic format in the RSGT:

ENGINE

The “Last Mezger”, the 997 GT3 | CUP engine ist the heart of the RSGT. The Hans Mezger engine design formed the character of the Porsche 911 for decades. In its last iteration it revs to nearly 9000 rpm, formed the character of the greatest RS Cars and proved robustness in all circumstances. Combined with REEN® DRIVE it is the key to the RSGTs flexibility from one driving mood to the other.

DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN

Retaining the classic design of the Porsche 964 RS sports car, significantly modernizing it technically and combining it with the highlights from 50 years of Porsche RS history – was our birthday present for 75 years of Porsche and the premiere for REEN DRIVE.

At the heart of Munich Friends, leading automotive engineers and the support of leading automotive suppliers made the success, in combination with the latest process technologies, worldwide nearly unique programming skills, a patient TÜV, the most experienced Porsche technicians and a lot of passion for an outstanding product development that may hide in understatement for the casual observer but not for the driver. For him, the focus in development is on driving pleasure, driving pleasure and more driving pleasure.

DRIVE

The RSGT has been developed in the ALPS and urban environment. The RSGT Concept focuses on an overwhelming emotional driving experience for a blast through twisty mountain roads in a classic sport car format, while keeping everyday usability at your hand through a click on the steering wheel. The analog character of REEN drive is shaped by keeping every parameter separate and the freedom of choice between OFF-ON.

Geboren in eine Familie von Automobil- Enthusiasten und Akteuren der Automobilen- Presselandschaft, wurde mir die Liebe zum Automobil, insbesondere zu Sportwagen,  sprichwörtlich in die Wiege gelegt. Dabei fand ich von Beginn an die Liebe zu Porsche in der klaren Formensprache und technischen Modularität. In frühen Restaurierungen legte ich den Fokus auf individuelle, technische Detaillösungen, Ästhetik sowie Leistungssteigerung mit einem Höhepunkt 2015 in “Loud and fast Art” – einer Leichtgewichts Studie des Porsche 911 ST. Meine technische Herangehensweise reifte über ein Jahrzehnt durch die Entwicklung von computergestützten Operationsdevices in der Medizintechnik und der Verbindung zum Hyperloop Team der technischen Universität München. Im Herzen der Automobilentwicklung und Porsche Kultur München formte ich ein Team von talentierten Ingenieuren und den erfahrensten Porsche Technikern, um klassische Attribute mit moderner Ingenieurskunst zu verbinden.

 

Mit modernster Verfahrenstechnologie und Elektronik schenkten wir  dem RSGT, im Look der klassischen Sportwagen-Ikone der 90er Jahre, die Vielfalt zwischen “Loud and fast Art” und Alltagstauglichkeit, patentiert als REEN® DRIVE System. REEN® DRIVE ist ein eigenständiges System, dass analog zum modernen Sportwagen den Charakter des Fahrzeugs nach Vorstellung des Fahrers formt, angefangen bei der elektro- hydraulischen Lenkunterstützung, über die Kennlinie der Kraftentfaltung des Motors, hin zu einer fein justierbaren Traktionskontrolle sowie Schaltunterstützung und Abgasklappensteuerung des Sportwagens. Jedes der Charaktermerkmale lässt sich dabei separat formen, ganz nach dem Vorbild eines analogen Verstärkers – für den individuellen Fahrspaß.

 

Der RSGT ist die Geschichte einer kreativen, aufreibenden, fantastischen und zielfokussierten Restauration in Zusammenarbeit mit den Größen der Automobilzulieferindustrie, die uns mit einzigartigen Lösungen unterstützten.

 

Der RSGT ist eine Hommage an den Porsche 964 RS, 50 Jahre Porsche RS Geschichte und an Hans Mezger mit seinem revolutionären Motorendesign,  das im frühen 911 seine Anfänge fand, den Charakter des 964 prägt und im 997 GT3 Triebwerk vollendet ist.

 

In Verbindung mit REEN® DRIVE ist der letzte Mezger Motor – mit seiner modernen Regelelektronik – der Schlüssel zur Flexibilität, einzigartig in seiner Drehfreude und Charakteristik und Ausdruck von Fahrfreude – im RSGT in einem klassischen Format.

MOTOR

Der letzte Mezger Motor – der 997 GT3 | CUP Motor – ist das Herzstück des RSGT. Als letzte Ausbaustufe prägte er den Charakter der bekanntesten GT und RS Porsches und bewies Standfestigkeit in allen Drehzahlbereichen.

In Verbindung mit REEN® DRIVE ist der letzte Mezger Motor – mit seiner modernen Regelelektronik – der Schlüssel zur Flexibilität, einzigartig in seiner Drehfreude und Charakteristik und Ausdruck von Fahrfreude – im RSGT in einem klassischen Format.

ENTWICKLUNG UND DESIGN

Die klassische Formensprache des Sportwagen Klassiker Porsche 964 RS zu erhalten, ihn signifikant technisch zu modernisieren und mit den Highlights aus 50 Jahre Porsche RS Historie zu vereinen –  war unser Geburtstagsgeschenk an 50 Jahre Porsche RS und die Premiere für REEN DRIVE.

Die Umsetzung gelang mit Freunden, führenden Automobil Ingenieuren und weltweit für Großprojekte bekannte Zulieferer der Automobilindustrie im Herzen Münchens in Verbindung aus modernsten Verfahrenstechniken, weltweit einzigartigen Programmierkünsten, einem geduldigen TÜV, den erfahrensten Porsche Technikern und viel Leidenschaft an einer herausragenden  Produktentwicklung die sich dem Kenner zeigt und doch beruhigt im Understatement unentdeckt bleiben darf, für den Zuseher, nicht aber den Fahrer. Für ihn liegt der Fokus bei der Entwicklung auf Fahrfreude, Fahrfreude und noch einmal Fahrfreude.

FAHRERLEBNIS

Der RSGT wurde für Passstraßen und den urbanen Alltag entwickelt. Das RSGT- Konzept konzentriert sich auf das emotionale Fahrerlebnis eines klassischen Rennwagens mit der Alltagstauglichkeit im Handumdrehen, durch einen Klick am Lenkrad. Der analoge Charakter von REEN® DRIVE wird dadurch geprägt, dass jeder Parameter getrennt einzustellen ist, mit der Wahlfreiheit zwischen On bis Off.
